Minecraft – Escape, Finally

I wandered for hours in the tunnel and could not find my way out.  Like I said before, I should have listened to the advices of placing torches on only one wall.  I would make different turns each time I went around and only ended up back where I began going in circles.  I took one more try and I started to hear water.  I had heard water in this area before but I was focus on getting out.  This time I decided to search for this water to see if it could help me.

I looked up and found an area that was unlit, meaning that I had not been there yet.  It was not the way I had come but it might be worth checking out.  I climbed the rock and there I found something that could be useful.  There was a huge wall of water falling in the cavern.  It was too huge to be underground.  I wondered if it was connected to the ocean and was falling through a hole.  I decided to give it a try and I swam up the waterfall.  As I swam upward I saw the stars through the water.  This was my escape, finally!  I was free! Minecraft – Abandoned Mineshaft

As I mined downward, looking for materials for a another home, I came across a new wonder.  I found an abandoned mineshaft.  Its tunnels stretched off into the darkness, just waiting to be explored.  I quickly placed all of my valuables into a chest and grabbed as many torches as I could get.  Then I entered the mining tunnel.

In the past I found an easy way of exploring and lighting tunnels while remaining quite safe.  I like to have an unfair advantage to me when I fight.  I know, I know, but it keeps me alive most of the time!  My technique is to mine a 2×1 tunnel going as long as needed next to the cave or mineshaft.  every other block I break to open a one block window to the shaft.  This allows me to see what is in there, place torches, have a quick escape, and be protected from most mobs.  The only ones that I have trouble with is skeletons and, I sadly discovered in this mineshaft, cave spiders. MineCraft – 1.9 Pre-release

So I finally found and set up minecraft 1.9 pre-release.  It is really neat and I like the new mushroom biomes.  I am not sure how to install it on windows.  For mac you go into Library > Application support > minecraft > bin.  There you will find a file called minecraft.jar.  I suggest you put that file in another place where you can find in case you have problems.  I dragged mine on to my desktop.  Then place the new file into the bin folder and there you go!  Start up minecraft to see if it works.  If it doesn’t just replace the mincraft.jar with the original file and you will be back to 1.8.

I do not know what all the updates there are in 1.9 but there seem to be a lot!  When I last saved my game it was raining.  After I got the 1.9 pre-release it was snowing.  Now the entire area around my home is covered in snow!  The entire lake went from complete water to complete ice within 2 minecraft days.  It is an interesting change but I do not like the snow biome that much.  I plan to soon leave for a new home.  Somewhere warmer!

In my first world that I made on Minecraft I choose to create homes all over my world.  When I was bored with one I would travel about a day’s walking distance and create a new home.  This would allow me to effectively explore while creating at the same time.  I could build my houses in different area with different materials.  I could also change the layouts of my houses.  I loved doing that and have thought about doing the same in this world.

For now, though, I need to get more materials.  Thus I started to mine deep below my home for iron and other resources.  A slow process, but one that is better done than not.

Minecraft – A New World

I had some technical difficulties with my computer and decided to wipe the harddrive.  There were both benefits and cons to doing this.  Thankfully, anything that was important I had back up and I was able to update my mac to snow leopard!  Unfortunately, I lost my mine craft worlds.  I am not too upset though.  I see this as a fresh start and I have already started a survival minecraft world.

The first thing I did, which I always do, is create a one night home underground next to my spawn point.  I do realize that it is not real necessary  since beds create new spawn points.  Using a small room for the night takes little time to make and allows me to use the rest of the day by collecting resources and food.
